What kinda training dose an officer in the military go throw is it similar to basic training?
Q. Is an officers training for the military similar to the basic training enlisted go throw? What do officer do in training how is it I'm thinking of becoming an officer. My other question is what is the difference between regular officer training and some one who is going to be a lawyer or a Chaplin in the military how dose their training differ? The only reason i ask is cause on the air force website the training for officer sounds different the the training to be a lawyer which is still an officer.

A. You have three ways to become an officer in the military: ROTC through your college, going to one of the military schools (West Point e.g.) or getting your college degree first and then applying to OCS (Officer Candidate School.) If you go the OCS route, you still have to go through regular basic training in the army, then you go to OCS, which is a more advanced kind of basic for officers. If you are going to be a lawyer, you have two options: You can be a currently practicing lawyer and go in that way, or you can become an officer in one of the other ways and then apply for law school training. As a chaplain, you don't do anything that other people do, because you're not really a "soldier" per se. You are ministering to soldiers. … [cont.]

What is the training that a professional hockey player goes through?
Q. I'm doing a school project on hockey players and I tried looking everywhere on their training methods. Try to answers these two questions: 1-What are the number of hours dedicated to off-season training, in season training and pre and post season training? 2-What is the proper weight training, nutrition, stretching agility training, cardio training and rest periods of a profession hockey player? Thanks so much.

A. Here is what I think. Contact a local high school or youth league coach or trainer. If there aren't any near you, e-mail the trainer for your favorite team. I have gotten several letters over the years from the Red Wings trainer(s) when I had questions. Also, ask any players you know. Off season training is more up to the individual I think. Some work harder than others. It's all about conditioning so I imagine most players try to stay in shape somehow.

Can training classes offer anything that can't be taught from a good training manual?
Q. Hi. I was wondering if anyone would mind sharing what they know about training classes. I have been training my puppy using books and a video. He is very smart and learns very quickly. I am interested in training classes, but if they just teach the same things he has already been learning, they wouldn't be very useful. Thanks in advance!

A. Not only do they offer socialization, but they also know several different methods. So, if you hit a roadblock, the trainer can help you get around it. Your dog will learn how to handle distractions, which are hard to get when you're training at home. Your obedience training school will also have information on other programs you might be interested in, whether it's agility, freestyle, search & rescue, therapy dogs, etc. You might also be surprised at how many human friends you walk away with as well!

At what age should you start potty training a toddler?
Q. I'm just asking because a friend of mine has a daughter who's almost 3 1/2 years old isn't potty trained. She has even attempted to potty train her. She uses Pull-Up training pants as diapers. I only ask because my sister's daughter is two years old and potty trained. My sister started potty training her daughter at 1 1/2 years old. Shouldn't my friend be started potty training her 3 1/2 year old by now? Yes my friend's daughter is normal and she is very intelligent for her age. That's why I can't understand why her mother hasn't started trying to potty train her.
Asked by racehorsegal - Tue May 29 18:47:11 2007 - - 13 Answers - 2 Comments

A. It depends on each child's maturity & intelligence, but most mothers begin training at 18months and they have them trained by 2yrs to 2 1/2yrs at most!!! A 3 1/2yr old who isn't potty trained is a very bad way to raise a child in my opinion. It has to cause problems for the child and for everyone who has to care for her. Is the child normal? Just wondering.

Q. Economy is quite slow and sales activity is pretty low. It is a good time to get some training and develop new skills / fix bad habits. What are some good subjects to get trained on that benefited you in sales and marketing jobs? Not interested in smoke & mirror sales training sessions, time management or leadership. A. I work in commercial real estate ...hope my ideas are applicable to you. Sales people love when you ask their opinion or ask for their ideas. How about a round table discussion for ideas to bring in new clients/prospects or ask someone that is still producing good numbers to share some insight as to what they are doing. Theywill most likely do it b/c they are in the spotlight (all sales people love that) and at the same time it's helping you out b/c some of your struggling sales team might get an idea to bring in some new business. Another idea, if they aren't busy have a meeting about the "basics". If they aren't out winning new business, they need to be fostering relationships that will bring in repeat business. I believe that the person has had to obtain their associate's (two year) degree from an accredited program in vet tech as well as completed a clinical fieldwork experience as part of graduation. US colleges: Please steer clear of those online, for profit schools such as penn foster, US career, stratford career, capella, ITT tech, sanford brown, university of phoenix and such: and can type into search.

A. It's just me and my boyfriend living together and he works a lot and the dogs pretty much ignore him. They have all been trained by me for the past 10yrs when i got the first. I don't think it is bad just having one person training, as long as the dog knows it's place at the bottom i don't see a problem. Obviously everyone in the household will need to be consistent with the dog and correct any inappropriate behavior. I believe the main training can be done by one person and not affect the dog or family negatively as long as it is done properly.

Take one of her soiled pads outside and put it in the area you would like her to use the bathroom. watch after she eats...take her out. when she wakes up ...take her out. when she is done with a playing session...take her out. before she goes to bed...take her out. always use a soothing voice to tell her she has done well...GOOOD girl. when she has an accident...promptly take her to her spot in the yard, so she can see where she is supposed to go. no yelling. all dogs want to please. Patience is your name now. good luck

A. Put the training pads down in the places where he regularly poops and eventually he will learn. Or you could try training him to go outside straight away so that you don't need to bother with the pads. Everytime he looks like he is going to do something put him outside then he will learn that he needs to be let out before pooping (my dog learnt straight away, but my sisters took longer to be house-trained) hope that helps

A. If you get hired on by a police dept. you will go through a 6 month police academy that could be live in depending on the dept. The training consists of various laws, methods of arrests, emergency vehicle operations, physical training and tons more. You can choose to pay your way through a certified academy before getting hired but its like 5,000 and its all day so its pretty much impossible to work at the same time and even if you pass you still aren't guaranteed a job with the police department. In my opinion its best to get hired first because they pay for the academy AND you get a paycheck. Good luck

A. Well if he's coming here to Missouri I'm guessing he's either MP, Motor T, or CBRN, right? My husband went to MCT at Pendleton, so his liberty was a bit different than what they have over at Le Jeune, but in talking to other East Coast Marines, they got time on the weekends to use phones and computers, go around base, etc, and then the weekend before graduation I believe they got a few hours of off-base liberty (my husband got almost a full 2 days, but I heard they got less than that at Le Jeune, so I'm guessing here). When he gets to Missouri, it really depends entirely on his MOS and his superiors. My husband was given on-base liberty this weekend, with his battle buddy, and since I live in St. Robert I drove onto base and we hung out… [cont.]

A. I would do it once in a while because you really need recovery time especially when its paired with strength training because you will overload your CNS. I dont reccomment interval training though, I tried it and never saw any results. I came across a really good website, that despite its name, isnt just about bodybuilding it has professional powerlifters, boxers and nutritionists. www.bodybuilding.com

Depending on what state you'll be working in- In the South Carolina Department of Corrections we had to run 1.5 mile run, dragging a 150 pound dummy a certain length, push ups and sit ups all within a certain amount of time. You will learn other things such as First Aid and CPR, weapons qualification for the shotgun and .38 revolver, going through the gas chamber, learning about the culture of various inmate/convicts, how to conduct frisks, search cells and vehicles, report writing, applying mechanical restraints, laws that apply to correctional officers, chemical munitions, suicide intervention/prevention/ counselling, self defense, transportation of inmates, communication skills (Pay attention to this one), emergency situations,… [cont.]

A. If you are not in the U.S., then generally you would have to work for an ADI recognized program. In the U.S., private trainers are permitted, but are uncommon. Most dogs aren't suited for service work. Paws with a Cause did a study showing that among rescues only one dog in a hundred was able to complete screening and training. Before you start training you have to temperament test. Service work is extremely stressful and requires a very very sound dog. Most rescues are going to come with some baggage. It wouldn't be fair to put a dog with baggage into a highly stressful career. Then you do health clearances, including OFAs on hips, elbows, thyroid and cardiac, plus a CERF. It takes two years to train a service animal and the… [cont.]

A. I agree- hold off till about 18 months to do any official agility training. BUT... you can incorperate a little fun into your training, no impact exercises. Get a child's tunnel from Toys R Us and teach the tunnel. Use an old blanket to sew a collapsed tunnel. Make a mini teeter totter by putting a board (about 3 feet by 3 feet) on top of a brick and lead the puppy over it so it gets used to feeling the shift. Make a VERY low dog walk... I'm talking inches off the ground so there is no danger... by putting a narrow board on bricks to get the dog used to walking on something off the ground. When I bought my male Gordon Setter, his breeder had several miniature agility props set up in the puppy yard.. The puppies would play on them,… [cont.]
