It uses the force of gravity (in the form of weighted bars, dumbbells or weight stacks) to oppose the force generated by muscle through concentric or eccentric contraction. Weight training uses a variety of specialized equipment to target specific muscle groups and types of movement. Weight training differs from bodybuilding, Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, and strongman, which are sports rather than forms of exercise. Weight training, however, is often part of the athlete's training regimen. From Wikipedia under the

I'm wondering what kind of weight training I can do that will help me increase the number of push ups I can do. Asked by J7 - Wed Jul 1 13:57:11 2009 - - 4 Answers - 0 Comments A. Many chest exercises can help with push ups but doing push ups is the best way to get better at them. There are several ways to go about it. You can do as many as you can each morning and/or evening and then try to beat your previous best by more reps on the next day. Another method is the classic 50. If you can't do 50 reps at one time you use as many sets as you need to get to 50. So you can do sets of 10, 5 times and that would bring you to 50 or you can do 2 sets of 25. Then after a few sessions test your one set max and your number of push ups should go up. I currently do workouts of 100 and will usually go with something like 25 - 30 on the first set, rest as little as possible, then do another set of as many as I can, rest as… [cont.] Answered by JV - Thu Jul 2 20:28:44 2009 If i stop weight training and go back to cardio will my muscle become fat? Q. I used to do an hour of cardio but that got boring. So i started doing 45 minutes of cardio and 15 minutes of weight training. I have noticed that I didn't lose any weight, but rather gained weight. If i stop doing weight training and return to cardio will my muscle become fat? Asked by pokemon - Sat Nov 29 09:58:04 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments A. Weight training builds muscle, which weighs more than fat by volume. By stopping the weight training you may lose muscle mass over time. Weight training causes muscle to continue burning fat for hours after your workout, so a little weight training is a good thing. By continuing a good cardio program you will burn fat also, even faster than through weight training only. You need to only work the same muscle groups every other day. Muscles need a day of rest between workouts while cardio can be done every day. Answered by Disabled Vet. - Sat Nov 29 10:13:53 2008 What is the correct weight training for a tennis player?
Q. I need weight training to become faster. My mile time is 6:20 but I want to become a better sprinter and have better agility. I also need strong arms. I have access to weight rooms so anything will work. Asked by Ktik - Wed Sep 24 21:50:44 2008 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments A. mile isn't as important for ur speed. speed ad endurance are different things. work on reaction time drills and short sprnts like 50 m. with faster reaction u'll move faster shortening ur time to get to the ball. and u'll have a better set-up to hit it. for weight training tennis uses just baout every muscle. the main ones are in ur arms which could include the bicep and tricep. the bicep is for ur forehand. i suggest preacher curls. and bicep curls. hammer curls too. tricep and chest can be helped my bench curls. i have a website full of these but currently i dont have acess to the computer i bookmarked it on. best answer me and i'll email u the link. or jut email me later and i'll send u it Answered by mistakool5 - Sun Sep 28 00:10:03 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "weight training" For Cavs' wideouts, timing's the key - Washington Post
